VALUATION DECLARATION

Everyone’s belongings have value, whether monetary or sentimental. Our movers take great care to ensure that nothing is damaged in the course of a move, but unfortunately, damage claims do happen from time to time. The common assumption is that full coverage insurance is included when a moving company lists itself as a licensed and insured carrier. However, the terms licensed and insured simply mean that the company has sufficient auto, general liability, and cargo coverage that the Department of Transportation requires.

Valuation is what covers your household goods during your move. As explained in the Important documents listed above, there are options available to cover loss or damage to your goods. 

These options are:

1) $0.60 CENTS PER POUND PER ARTICLE (BASIC COVERAGE) 
This option provides for recovery for lost or damaged item(s) based on $0.60 cents times the weight of the item(s). Regardless the items actual value you would be reimbursed $0.60 cents per pound. This level of coverage is provided at no additional charge.

2) FULL VALUE PROTECTION (FVP – Current Replacement Value) 
This option provides for recovery for lost or damaged item(s) based on current replacement value at the time of loss or damage, up to the dollar amount of valuation declared by the shipper (you). There is a charge for coverage provided under this option.

  • Full Replacement Value – Valued Inventory
    This is the most comprehensive insurance option available and provides the best coverage. This insurance is offered for Interstate (moving from state to state), Intrastate (moving within the same state), and international shipments. For your benefit and for proper coverage, you must list and declare a replacement value on all of the items that you wish to insure. Items may be categorized as a group, such as “living room set, 7 pieces”. However, please remember that in the event a claim is filed for any of the items in that category, the settlement amount may reflect the average value of the declared grouped items in that category.  
  • Full Replacement Value – Lump Sum
    This insurance is offered for Interstate (moving from state to state) and Intrastate (moving within the same state) shipments. The total coverage amount is determined when you, the assured, place a lump sum value on all of your goods to be insured considering the declared value of the shipment equals no less than 8 times the weight of the shipment. Any items individually valued at $1,000 or more need to be listed separately in order to be covered at their specific replacement value.

However, moving is manual labor and moving can provide extremely difficult situations at times. Accidents can happen. Make sure you have considered your options prior to the move and select an option that you will be satisfied with should an accident occur.  

Please review your estimate and confirm which valuation option you would like provided for your move. If you would like Full Value Protection Coverage, we require this to be completed 48 hours prior to your move date with MovingInsurance.com. 

Online steps to purchase FVP:

1) To get your declared value or weight value please refer to your emailed estimate from OTM Moving and Storage. 

2) Go to MovingInsurance.com 

3) Select Purchase Insurance 

4) Click on Purchase Now, under Domestic Insurance

5) Fill out all associated forms

6) For any questions regarding filling out the online FVP forms please call moving insurance at 888-893-8835.

7) Once the online forms are completed and FVP is purchased through MovingInsurance.com, OTM will be notified and your choice will be reflected on your estimate. 

PLEASE REVIEW OVER THE QUALITY CONTROL MANUAL by clicking on the link provided https://www.movinginsurance.com/files/RIGQualitycontrolmanual.pdf . This manual explains all requirements for proper packing and wrapping procedures. These procedures are mandatory to receive full value protection of your items. If any of the following procedures are denied by the client full value protection coverage will be voided. Packing material costs are a separate fee from the cost of Full Value Protection.  

FILING FORMAL CLAIMS BASED ON COVERAGE CHOSEN

OPTION 1 – BASIC COVERAGE: All Basic Coverage claims are to be submitted to CSI claims department at www.CSIpros.org. All claims are required to be submitted within 90 days of your final move date with Georgia Moves and 120 days of your final move date with Interstate Moves.

Claim Filing Instructions:
Please have the following documents available (saved to your computer or phone) before you start your claim:
1. Bill of Lading
2. Inventory Sheet

Start your claim:
1. Please register online at https://claims.csipros.org/claims/register
2. Enter your contact and move information and upload the required documents where instructed.
3. Submit your registration.

Your information will be verified within 48 business hours and once verified, an email with your login credentials will be sent to you. Check your “Spam” or “Junk” folder if you can’t find it in your inbox.

Once you have received your login information follow these easy steps:
1. Log in to your online account
2. Enter your claim information
3. If claiming damages, please make sure to have the pictures of the damaged items saved to your computer or phone so you can upload them when asked for it. Keep in mind the adjusters will need
pictures clearly showing the damage claimed and 1 picture showing the entire item.
4. If claiming Real Property damage (floors, ceilings, walls, etc.) please provide 3 repair estimates. Repair estimates may be obtained free of charge from reputable professionals.
5. Any additional documents including repair estimate (for real property damage only) can be uploaded directly to the Documents Tab.

OPTION 2 – FULL VALUE PROTECTION: All FVP claims are to be submitted with claims@movingclaim.com. All claims are required to be submitted within 45 days after delivery. Any items not specifically claimed within 45 days of delivery will not be covered.  To file a formal claim you will need to submit your claim through claims@movingclaim.com and provide your moving insurance information. Once the claim has been submitted, OTM Moving and Storage claims provider (Relocation Insurance) will be in contact within 2-4 days business days.  

Be sure to keep the damaged property to allow items to be inspected for damages. Do not have damages repaired or replace the item(s) as this may jeopardize your potential settlement.

Refusal of Packing Materials: If items being moved are not properly pad wrapped, boxed or standard protection of items is refused OTM Moving and Storage will not be liable for any damages. Basic coverage or Full Value Protection will be voided. 

Clients Moving Out of Storage: where OTM Moving and Storage didn’t provide the service going into that storage, BASIC COVERAGE is provided. Due to not knowing the condition of the items when they were put in storage, OTM Moving and Storage cannot be held liable for damages that may have already occurred.
